Thanks Be To Hollywood

How did Tyrell Godwin get the nickname of thanks be?  I coached him in high school and this is a new one for me.

We here at Baseball Evolution are Doctor Who fans... that's a British science-fiction show, the longest running of all time.  Anyway, in one episode the inhabitants of a planet worshiped a god called Ty.  They would chant "thanks be to Ty" much as other religions chant "thanks be to God."  In Tyrell's case, it works as a play on both his first and last name.

You must have been very proud to coach him; he's one of my personal favorites.  I think that his arm is being wasted in left field.  He should be the starting center fielder and leadoff hitter for the Nats right now.

Yeah I agree. Tyrell was a joy to coach in high school, very cerebral. I coached him in football and track, made me look like a genius at times. I was just wondering because in high school we called him Hollywood and at UNC they called him T GOD.
