Week Eight
by Asher B. Chancey, BaseballEvolution.com May 28, 2007
Last week, as an after-thought, I said of the St. Louis Cardinals "29th place - and a chance to prove me wrong vs. Nats this week." It became clear to me that the Nationals are currently playing inspiring baseball - in that they were winning at all - while the Cardinals were playing very poorly and no longer worthy of the "World Champion Benefit of the Doubt."
The Nationals went 5-2 on the road this week against the Reds and Cardinals, winning both series with solid pitching and get-it-done offense. The Cardinals, meanwhile, swept Pittsburgh at home before allowing the visitor Nats to take two-of-three.
The Cards will have to prove me wrong some other time.
Without further ado, here are the Week Eight Power Rankings. Enjoy and, as always, feel free to comment.
